Home buyers involved in a relocation to Grand Rapids, Michigan often want both a great deal and to find the perfect new home. Sometimes it is not practical. The most important factor for most home buyers moving their families from out of town is to find a home that has all the features they need, in a good Grand Rapids real estate neighborhood and to not pay more than fair market value for the home. However, when finding a good deal is more important that finding the most suitable home, home buyers need to make arrangements for temporary accommodation. Because finding a great deal AND a home suitable for your family in a short amount of time is nearly impossible. I’ve seen many families over the years live in uncomfortable temporary housing because of the desire to get a steal. Low-ball offers tend to sour negotiation proceedings and rarely end in the buyer getting a good deal. However, once you have found a suitable home for your family, you should obviously try to get the best possible deal in that situation.

Over 2,000 years ago, the Hopewell Indians occupied the Grand River Valley. Around 1700 A.D., the Ottawa Indians moved into the area and founded several villages along the Grand River.
The Grand Rapids area was first settled by Europeans near the start of the 19th century by missionaries and fur traders, who generally lived in reasonable peace alongside the Ottawa tribespeople, trading their European metal and textile goods for the fur pelts. Joseph and Madeline La Framboise established the first Indian/European trading post in West Michigan, on the banks of the Grand River near what is now Ada. After the death of her husband in 1806, Medaline La Franboise carried on, expanding fur trading posts to the west and north. La Framboise, a mix of French and Indian descent, later merged her successful operations with the American Fur Company and retired, at age 41, to Mackinac Island. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
